Academic Program—Collegiate Academy

The Collegiate Academy offers an experience more like that of a university, but with familiar supports from the Senior Academy such as Tutorial and Mid-day Meeting. Students are provided with more choice in their course selection and there is greater opportunity for schools to adapt the course offerings to meet the interests and traditions of the local community. Below is a listing of the courses that Edison offers nationally. Courses marked with an asterisk are college-prep courses for students who choose not to take AP offerings.

History: 65 minutes daily

  • Advanced Placement United States History
  • Advanced Placement United States Government and Politics
  • Advanced Placement European History
  • Government/Civics*
  • Economics*
  • A.P. Economics

Literature and Language Arts: 65 minutes daily

  • Advanced Placement English Language and Composition (Classical and Comparative Lit.)
  • Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition (British Literature)
  • Classical and Comparative Literature
  • British Literature
  • Writing Workshop*

Science: 65 minutes daily

  • Advanced Placement Biology
  • Advanced Placement Chemistry
  • Advanced Placement Physics
  • Geophysical Science*
  • Anatomy and Physiology*
  • Environmental Science*

Mathematics: 65 minutes daily

  • Advanced Placement Statistics
  • Advanced Placement Calculus (AB)
  • Advanced Placement Calculus (BC)
  • Advanced Mathematical Modeling: Calculus and Statistics
  • Algebra 2*
  • Pre-Calculus*

Electives: 2 or 3 times per week

  • Edison offers electives that extend the Senior Academy curriculum in world language, fine arts, and physical fitness and health. Other electives may be offered depending on
  • community interests.

College and Career Counseling

  • A unique partnership with Princeton Review provides all students with orientation to the college application and financial-aid process, preparation for the SAT and ACT, internships in the public and private sectors, and career counseling.
