Theodore J. (Ted) Coburn joined Edison in March 2006 as executive vice president, strategy and new business development. He is responsible for all aspects of business development. Ted's business career has been in financial management and strategy. Most recently he was president of the Coburn Capital Group, an investment banking boutique. He has also served as senior vice president and head of sales for The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. and senior vice president for Prudential Securities. Earlier Ted worked for Merrill Lynch Capital Markets and Kidder Peabody. He is currently chairman of the board of trustees for Allianz Global Investors (PIMCO).
In addition to an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, Ted holds an MBA from Columbia Graduate School of Business and a Master of Counseling Psychology and a Master of Divinity from Harvard University. Ted's degrees at Harvard were attained in the 1990's, when at age 37 he moved his family to Boston to focus on social services and public education. He has worked extensively with at-risk youth in various social service settings and was part of the founding team for a charter school in Massachusetts, as well as a Harvard-based intervention and after-school program.
