In addition to his duties at Edison, Reverend Flake serves as the senior pastor of the Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church in Jamaica, Queens; as a Senior Fellow at the Manhattan Institute for Social and Economic Policy; and as a columnist for the New York Post. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Fannie Mae Foundation and an Adjunct Fellow on the Advisory Board of the Brookings Institution Center on Urban and Metropolitan Policy. Representing the 6th district of New York, Reverend Flake served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from January 1986 to December 1997.
