Milwaukee Academy of Science

Our Mission:
To be the best K4 - 12 school in the region: a school that educates the whole student, focuses on science, math and technology, and graduates students prepared to excel in higher education and science-related careers.

The Milwaukee Academy of Science is an independent charter school, opened in August 2000. The school serves students from K4 through eighth grade. Our rich and challenging curriculum emphasizes science and the partnerships we have in the community enable us to offer our students unique science opportunities.

The school is governed by the Milwaukee Science Education Consortium a 501c(3) organization with representatives from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Marquette University, Cardinal Stritch University, Alverno College and Mount Mary College. The Consortium has chartered with University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
Guiding Principles:

  • Relentless pursuit of success
  • Encouragement of students to prepare meaningful careers, particularly in science, and to be able to apply scientific concepts in their lives
  • Clear expectations for personal and professional accountability for staff and shared leadership within the school
  • Commitment to professional development to facilitate quality in the classroom and to follow best practices in science education
  • Engagement of the whole family of the student in a diverse learning community
  • Partnership with the Board of Directors and others in the community to achieve mission and goals
