Each quarter, partnership schools plan conferences with each student's family. One teacher becomes a student's primary adviser. At the conference the adviser, the student and family discuss and complete a Quarterly Learning Contract. The QLC reports to the family the level of the student's work and the overall quality of performance. The QLC is more than a report on past progress. It is also a commitment to the future. The QLC asks the family, student and adviser to agree on one goal for the coming quarter. Conference participants then identify what specific tasks they will perform to help meet the goal. Each signs the contract, ratifying their commitment to work for a particular success over the coming quarter. How else does Edison involve parents in its schools? |
