Edison schools have implemented ESL and bilingual programs with special effectiveness. Because all students in Edison schools study Spanish, beginning in kindergarten, the schools provide an environment in which speaking and learning new languages is widely encouraged. The daily schedule facilitates ESL instruction by enabling limited-English students to receive extra support while other students are taking Spanish.
