Edison changes an educator's life in dramatic ways: Every teacher has a portable computer,       telephone and voice mail. Teachers are paid more like professionals,      earning more annually in Edison schools than      they would otherwise and given opportunities      to earn additional pay for additional work      throughout the Edison system. Every teacher has two periods each day      devoted to professional development. Edison's technology system offers databases      filled with information related to every subject      area and current research, instructional      motivations, curricular materials and lesson      plans.
