Position Summary:
This position is for a Senior Messaging Systems Administrator that will be involved in every aspect of Windows Server 2000 & 2003 and Exchange 2003 initiatives including design, planning, implementation, support, administration, monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting of client and server systems. This position will work closely with other unit teams, including, network, security and business units during the deployment phases of the project. Individual will need to be able to function under minimal supervision with a high degree of responsibility in a large scale enterprise wide messaging platform for 80,000 plus accounts. The System Administrator will be responsible for Exchange design, implementation, administration, maintenance, upgrades, Outlook Web Access, anti-virus and spam tools, performance tuning, backups, restores, DR and other Exchange functions pertaining to the enterprise environment. The System Administrator will build, configure, troubleshoot and integrate servers to provide continued enhancements and infrastructure upgrades. Customer requests are logged and supported via a structured call center and measured to meet established service level goals.
Special Skills/Experience Required:
Design and implementation of a new Exchange 2003 email platform running on a cross-platform of Windows 2000 & 2003 Servers. Administration, management and maintenance, support and troubleshooting of an Exchange 2003 organization, with offices throughout the US and one office in the UK. Evaluation and implementation of tools such as spam, virus, backup, and security. Patch management, deployment and mitigation for Exchange 2003, IM, IIS, IAS, Share Point. Automation, group policy, improvement and expansion of Exchange 2003 organization. Administration of backups, recovery, archiving, and disaster recovery. Monitoring, metrics, configuration, capacity, and traffic reporting. Working closely with other unit teams to support the architecture and operational practices of the enterprise. Developing best practices, standards, strategy, including documentation, mentoring and knowledge transfer to L1, L2 support groups and peers. Candidates will possess 3 to 5 years of hands on experience working with Microsoft Windows 2000 and/or 2003 Servers, with recent experience focusing on Exchange Administration. Administrative knowledge of Exchange 2000/2003 required with a working knowledge of the Active Directory environment is required. Support experience should include in-depth use of DHCP, WINS, DNS and SMTP, IMAP4, POP3, OWA, LCS, and 3rd party Exchange management tools. Candidates must interface well with customers, have initiative, and be able to work projects both individually and as a team member. Experience with backup tools such as veritas netbackup, email archiving, spam and virus products, help desk ticketing and problem management. Serve as the point of escalation for complex problem solving. Self-motivated team player, able to set priorities and manage to deadlines. Must be available to support in a 24x7 production environment. Strong documentation, troubleshooting and communications skills. Hold one or more MS certifications. Four year College degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
