| Executive Director, Teaching Center of Excellence Location: New York, NY School: Education Position Summary: Job Summary: The Head of the Teaching Center supervises the work of the curriculum area directors, ensuring consistency and high quality of content and execution. The work of the center consists of identifying the characteristics and behaviors of superior teachers, developing professional development in the content areas for Vice President of Educational Services, principals, curriculum coordinators, and teachers, and defining the tools and products used to advance achievement in the schools. Main Responsibilities and Time Requirement: - Work with HR to develop teacher sourcing, screening, hiring, assessment and development strategies and processes, including developing screening tools, performance standards and benchmarks, and relationships with high-quality sources of candidates - Supervise work of curriculum area directors - Work with Teaching Center staff to define the needs of teachers, students, administrators, and parents - Initiate and oversee curriculum and instructional programs, preschool through high school - Lead curriculum revisions and new programs including planning and support of curriculum task forces and service programs for students - Ensure that programs, tools, professional development and support provided to the Site/Region organization are consistent and effective - Work with Leadership Specialists to ensure implementation of curriculum programs and quality instruction meets Edison standards as well as district, state, and charter board requirements - Remain current on state and federal laws and regulations including SpEd and ELL compliance and NCLB regulations - Initiate study of innovative programs that show promise of leading to broad curricular change
