Grant Compliance Specialist

Position Summary:
Insures financial and programmatic adherence to grants regulations by working closely with and conducting training and field quality assurance visits to Edison managed schools and area financial management units (AFMUs). Assists the revenue capturing effort by monitoring and assisting schools applications for federal funds, draw down reporting activities. Educates field staff on fiscal and programmatic grant management requirements with a particular focus on maintaining compliance with federal funds received through the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). Reports to the Director of Grants.

Job Duties:
· Coordinates the completion of categorical grant applications.
· Provides assistance on how to maximize grant funding and how to allocate grand funds to allowable costs.
· Provides Title I Monitoring Visit/OMB A-133 Audit Support.
· Develops, maintains and publishes a NCLB Compliance manual.
· Ensures programmatic and financial compliance with competitive and categorical grants received by Edison schools through trainings delivered at Edison conferences and site visits to schools and AFMUs.
· Provides training on and ensures adherence to fiscal grants management principles. For example, ensures that school staff paid by federal funds, are following time and effort reporting requirements.
· Develops systems monitoring tools to enforce adherence to grant requirements.
· Remains abreast of developments with major federal grant programs and federal grants management principles.
· Works cross-functionally with site staff and other departments throughout the company on grants compliance and new initiatives.
· Identifies new opportunities and initiatives for the grants management arm of the department.
· Coordinates with Grants Management Team.



Special Skills/Experience Required:
· BA, BS degree
· Minimum of 4 years grants accounting, management or related experience, including school grant management.
· Attention to detail and systems oriented.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Strong presentation skills.
· Diplomatic, persuasive manner.
· Ability to travel frequently.
· Expertise in No Child Left Behind and/or other major federal, state and local educational grants.
