Position Summary:

Develops and implements network performance, capacity and fault management systems. Acts as principal project architecture designer and reviewer for concurrent project. Designs and configures, backups and restores all telecommunications subsystem changes and implementations. Identifies and analyzes technical and/or functional Nth Level telecommunication problems of high complexity. Leads projects or subprojects of significant technical complexity such.

Responsible for day to day oversight of the telecommunications network staff, operations and implementing best practices, including proactive monitoring, software release upgrades, documentation incident and change management, backups, disaster recovery, security aimed at improving availability, scalability and performance. Ongoing mentoring of direct reports well as Help Desk as appropriate prior to planned network changes and to improve problem determination skills.


Position Summary:

Reporting to the VP of Infrastructure, the Telecommunications Manager will be responsible for developing clear, comprehensive and integrated technical and product telecommunications (Voice, Video, Data) architectures which support the IT infrastructure strategy and provide long-term competitive advantage in the three to five year time frame. Documents existing and proposed Telecommunications architectural designs to ensure consistency, maintainability and flexibility. Analyzes highly complex enterprise wide system, technical requirements, traffic patterns, and product issues to develop the strategic infrastructure direction. Investigates and forecasts telecommunications industry trends. Acts as migration planning consultant and architecture guide. Leads telecommunications projects or subprojects of strategic impact such as vendor RFPs, migrations across WAN, LAN, Voice and wireless/mobile platforms.

Responsibilities:
· Develops clear, comprehensive technical and product architectures which support
current and future directions; makes recommendations to improve process efficiency and effectiveness; reviews major architectural designs to ensure consistency, maintainability and flexibility with respect to overall system, technical and product architectures; accountable for education within Edison Schools on all dimensions of architecture.

· Analyzes highly complex enterprise wide system, technical and product issues to develop the 3-5 year strategic infrastructure direction.

· Mange staff of Telecommunications Analysts.

· Investigates and forecasts IT trends to define the Telecommunications infrastructure direction.

· Acts as migration planning consultant to Infrastructure management; initiates strategic partnerships between telecom vendors, business partners and I/S.

· Guides the development and implementation of technical Telecommunications product standards based on long range plan and vision.

· Communicates system, technical and product architecture objectives, standards and long range migration plans throughout I/S and, as necessary, to business partners and vendors.

· Directly responsible for projects or subprojects of strategic impact; leads projects including developing project plans, assigning tasks and facilitating team process; prepares and administers performance appraisals for direct reports.

· Develops and implements highly complex operating or network management systems.

· Performs engineering, implementation and problem determination of high complexity in the LAN, WAN or voice environments minimizing business impact and maximizing availability.

· Acts as principal project architecture designer and reviewer for concurrent telecommunications projects and makes major architectural decisions; responsible for education within I/S unit on all dimensions of architecture.

· Develops systems testing strategies, plans, cases and conditions; monitors testing efforts; tests highly complex operating or network management systems in compliance with testing standards.

· Designs and engineers network topologies for scalability, performance and redundancy in accordance with business requirements product strategies and budget limitations.

· Identifies and analyzes technical and/or functional Nth Level incidents/problems of high complexity; designs and implements effective solutions.

· Accountable for telecommunications hardware and/or software research, evaluation and recommendations of major scope.

· Creates and implements technical telecommunications product standards and procedures; evaluates industry wide standards.

· Directly responsible for projects or subprojects of significant technical complexity; leads projects including developing project plans, assigning tasks and facilitating team process; provides input to performance appraisals; may write appraisals under direct supervision of manager.

· Consults on major, complex telecommunications design considerations.

· Depicts highly complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; communicates project objectives, scope and direction across project teams.


Requirements:

· Bachelor's Degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience.
· Generally a minimum of 8 years related experience with Cisco Environments.
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
· Strong documentation and communications skills, including the ability to manage a project solely and efficiently.
· CCNP required, CCIE written and or equivalent knowledge a plus
· Self-motivated team player, able to set priorities and manage to deadlines.
· Excellent trouble-shooting, communication and customer service skills.
· Must be available to support in a 24x7 production environment.
· Must have working knowledge of network security tools, security practices as they pertain to Telecommunications, DMZs, VPN/RAS, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAC and a track record of maintaining solid audit posture
· Working knowledge of Cisco VoIP, Call Manager/Unity and legacy voice platforms such as Meridian
· In-depth knowledge of Telecom, concepts, strategies and methodologies; thorough knowledge of practices and procedures of Telecom systems and expertise spanning multiple platforms/protocols, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, Frame Relay, ATM, TCP/IP and DNS/DHCP, RADIUS, TACACS.
· Extensive knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies and new architectural concepts and principles.
· Understanding of current and emerging utilities, networks and shared services.
· In-depth knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies; in-depth understanding of global business and technology trends and the financial services industry
· Highly developed negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills
· Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills
· Highly proficient in operating system utilities and system or network management tools.
