| General Manager Location: Nationwide School: Position Summary: General Managers (GMs) report to the President of either the Charter or District Partnership Division and will be responsible for the financial, operational, and academic performance of the Edison managed schools in an assigned region. The principals will report directly to the General Managers. Responsibilities of this job include: Student Achievement & Understanding Design · The GM will work closely with the principals and Achievement Vice Presidents to ensure the successful implementation and execution of the Edison design at all schools. · Provide feedback on all points of implementation of the Edison Design and identify areas where improvement is needed. · Present student achievement results to Boards of Directors for charter schools or to school district superintendents. · Must understand the individual configurations of each school, specific client demands, and our unique student population. · Resolve issues with the principals that arise in the schools and for resolving those issues at the school level. Financial Management · GMs have the responsibility to ensure that all schools operate within their budgets and achieve their financial goals. This includes monitoring student enrollment, personnel and all other operating expenses. · Develops, in conjunction with principals, short and long term plans and programs with supporting budget requests and financial estimates. Submits budget proposals to our clients, headquarters and development partners. · Effectively conveys to clients how Edison provides financial and administrative support for schools. · Work closely with development partners in creating new school budgets that aggressively protect the Edison design. · Each GM must create and manage their individual budget. Personnel · Responsible for the selection, training, evaluation and discipline of principals. · The GM will provide feedback and will work with principals and their leadership teams to ensure the Edison design is implemented. · Frequently visits schools to observe and monitor the day-to-day activities and ensure principals are managing effectively. Additional Responsibilities · Work effectively with the all Edison divisions to ensure the timely delivery of services to clients. · Understand the politics of the clients and manage Edison's involvement to achieve the collective goals. · Respond to complaints or issues from superintendents, board members, parents and employees. · Provide leadership to start-up projects while supporting existing schools
