Accounting Manager

Position Summary:
Supervise and assist staff of 4 accountants in the general ledger and fixed asset accounting groups.

Supervise monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing process and participate in the preparation of consolidated financial statements. Work closely with business controllers and central personnel in the financial closing process.

Supervise journal entry process for accruals and allocations at corporate and divisional levels.

Ensure account reconciliation is performed in a timely fashion; help perform analytical review of balance sheet accounts; and assist in the completion of P&L; fluctuation analyses.

Ensure transactions and activities are accounted for in accordance with GAAP and financial accounting and reporting are in compliance with all applicable standards and regulation including FASB, EITF, SOP, etc.

Help evaluate all financial processes that support the accounting and reporting activity; identify improvement opportunities; and participate in the implementation of chosen solutions.

Work closely with Treasurer to monitor our notes receivable (lending) portfolio including maintaining loan schedules, calculating interest and amortization, applying of cash receipts and proper accounting thereof.

Supervise day-to-day cash management activities including monitoring of collections and disbursements of funds and related accounting.

Assist in the year-end external audit process: provide explanations to outside auditors queries; present supporting documentation; and help complete the audit in a timely fashion.

Special projects and other duties as assigned.



Special Skills/Experience Required:
Accounting degree with 7 to 10 years of relevant experience (3 years supervisor) - CPA and or MBA preferred. A few years experience in a mid to large firm preferred.

A solid understanding of accounting theory and practice including all applicable standards and regulations.

An ability to understand and analyze the underlying business and its implications on financial accounting and reporting.

Strong analytical skills and solid knowledge of internal controls including some understanding of Sarbanes Oxley Act.

Some understanding of cash flow based valuation techniques including Discounted Cash Flow, Internal Rate of Return, etc.

Able to work with senior management across multiple disciplines.

Strong leadership skills, professional presence with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Must be detail-oriented, proactive and able to balance multiple responsibilities and tasks.

Must be team oriented, enjoy a hands on environment and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Strong computer skills including MS office. Lawson or other ERP experience a plus.
