IMAGINE: An Edison Music Teacher Wins the Grand Prize In the John Lennon Songwriting Contest Tuesday, July 01, 2003 Music teacher Dontae Winslow's song "I Love School," featuring backup vocals by students at Gilmor Elementary School in Baltimore, Maryland, won the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Contest Learn more about the contest and view the list of winners. A Note from Dontae "...The kids and I have been invited to perform at the International Music Products Association convention, NAMM, in Nashville, Tennessee from July 17-19th at the John Lennon Booth. Everyone is so excited! In addition, I have been awarded a full- fellowship to study at the Thelonious Monk Institute at USC this fall with hollywood film composer Terence Blanchard, and w ill be leaving Edison for a while. It has been a blessed experience. Thank you."
