Edison Schools Announces Expansion of Schools in New York State Tuesday, December 19, 2000 Edison announced that it plans to manage its first school on Long Island, beginning next fall. Edison plans to open a charter school in Wyandanch, New York in partnership with the Sullivan School Charter Board and Opportunities Industrialization Center of Suffolk County. The Charter Board won a charter from the New York Board of Regents last week. In the fall of 2001, the Sullivan Charter School will open its doors to approximately 225 students in grades K-2. In 2002, it will expand to a total of up to 600 students in grades K-7, and in the third year it will enroll as many as 675 students in grades K-8.
