![]() Edison Schools Announces Success in San Francisco Friday, June 29, 2001 Edison Schools announced that it reached an important agreement that will provide for continuation of the Edison Charter Academy in San Francisco. According to the terms of the agreement, Edison will continue to serve the educational needs of the students and families at this school. As a result of negotiations between Edison Schools and San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), Edison Charter Academy will also remain in its current facility and the SFUSD Board will discontinue any attempts to revoke Edison's Charter. In the three years since it opened, Edison Charter Academy has made significant strides toward improving student achievement and building a positive school environment. According to recent statewide test results, this school, historically the lowest performing in San Francisco, ranked third for growth of the district's 71 elementary schools, as released in the Academic Performance Index (API).
