![]() Edison Schools Announces First High School in Nation's Capital Friday, June 09, 2000 Edison announced that it will expand operations in the District of Columbia, where it currently manages two elementary schools and one middle school. As a result of this expansion, approximately four percent of the District's public school students are enrolled in Edison schools. Starting in the fall of this year, Edison will manage Edison-Friendship Collegiate Academy, Carter G. Woodson Campus, with its partner, Friendship House, serving approximately 450 Grade 9 and 10 students. Under the terms of the 5-year contract, which began in the fall of 1998, the school will expand to include Grade 11 in the 2001-2002 school year and Grade 12 the following year, serving an estimated 1,000 high school students.
