![]() Edison Schools Signs Achievement Management Contract with Fairfax County Public Schools. Virginia Agreement to serve approximately 1,400 student Wednesday, October 22, 2003 The partnership began earlier this month and will provide the Benc hmark Assessment and reporting tool system - an online, diagnostic assessment program - for approximately 1,400 students in grades 3, 5, and 8 in Cluster V of the district. In 2004-2005, the partnership may expand to serve additional schools and students in the district. Fairfax County Public Schools, located just outside of Washington D.C., is the nation's 12th largest school district and enrolls approximately 165,000 students. Formerly known as Edison Affiliates, Tungsten Learning specializes in help ing school districts raise student achievement through cost-effective "behind-the-scenes" achievement solutions that are customized to each school district's needs. Tungsten Learning's suite of full-service achievement management products and services include Edison's highly effective and innovative "Benchmark Assessment System". With its split-ASP technology platform, the Benchmark system provides instantaneous feedback to both students and instructors, thereby helping teachers to gauge and improve student learning in real time, meet accountability goals, and ultimately help make adequate yearly progress (AYP). Tungsten Learning will also provide achievement support to Fairfax to assist in the interpretation of the data and the implementation of professional development for teachers. Last month, Edison Schools announced a partnership between Tungsten Learning and Metropolitan School District (MSD) of Perry Township of Indiana.
