Douglas Williams, for his recent Superintendent of the Year award for the state of Indiana. Indiana represents the 23rd state in which Edison operates its schools. Rosa Parks-Edison Elementary School will open its doors in fall 2003 to as many as 700 students in grades K5 under the strong, experienced leadership of Principal Gary Robinson. The Rosa Parks School will be housed in a brand new state-of-the-art facility that is currently under construction. Jeremiah Gray-Edison Elementary School, the first Edison School in Perry Township, opened in August 2002 and is off to a very strong start. Superintendent Williams said, Though still in the formative stages, the relationship that we have forged with Edison Schools is everything that we had hoped it would be. The level of enthusiasm and excitement that initiating the partnership created in our community has not waned; indeed, it has grown in depth and breadth. We remain convinced that the benefits that our students will derive from attending our Edison Schools will truly be substantive. "We have a tremendous amount of respect for and a strong working relationship with Perry Township," said Chris Whittle, President and CEO of Edison Schools. We look forward to this opportunity to expand our partnership with them to offer even more educational choice and services to the students and families of Perry Township, Indiana.
