The Edison National System of Schools Continues to Grow The number of Edison schools nationwide has increased to 79 up from 51 in the 1998-99 school year. Schools are opening in ten new cities, five new states, and in many of Edison's existing locations. New Edison cities are: Chicago, Illinois; Dayton, Ohio; Fresno, California; Kansas City, Missouri; Macon, Georgia; Whitakers, North Carolina; Peoria, Illinois; Royal Oak, Michigan; Davenport, Iowa and Tyler, Texas. New states are Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, and Ohio. Following the expected openings, Edison will operate in 16 states and in the District of Columbia.
