There's not actually a set time in the Edison day for technology. But it's so important, it needs to be called out. From the "Edison live" morning broadcast to the computers in every classroom to the computers that every teacher and every family (usually in the second year of an Edison school) receives, integrating technology into the Edison day is routine.

Let's take a tech tour of some Edison classrooms. Here's a pair of kindergartners listening to a story on audiotape. Here's a group of first graders designing a HyperStudio presentation. There's a class of second graders using The Common-Edison's intranet message, conferencing, and information system-to communicate with second graders in another partnership school. A third grade teacher is alerting families via email to an important test this week and how to help students prepare. There's a class of fourth graders designing Web pages. Here are fifth graders shooting video of community guests recalling combat and "homefront" service during World War II for a social studies oral history project.

Edison schools aren't just ready for the future-they represent the future of technology integration NOW.
