D.C. Charter School Teacher Receives National Recognition 09/28/2005Each year, one teacher from each state and the District of Columbia is selected for the "American Stars of Teaching" award from the U.S. Department of Education. In mid-September, Shadwick Jenkins, a third-grade teacher at the Friendship Public Charter School (Chamberlain Campus) in D.C., joined the exclusive ranks of the award recipients who are recognized for their extraordinary efforts in the classroom.
