Whole-School Management

Edison manages schools in partnership with public school districts and/or state governments, taking responsibility for implementation of the educational program, technology plans, and management systems. Edison is accountable to local authorities for the performance of every Edison school.

Edison’s model offers public school authorities all of the benefits of a private-sector company with national scale. Those benefits include:
  • Customization, implementation, and support of our research-based, proven school design;
  • An ability, through greater efficiencies, to drive a larger percentage of educational expenditures to the classroom; and
  • Increased emphasis on accountability and achieving improved academic performance.
Edison schools remain public schools, open to all students and funded with tax dollars. Students in Edison schools are representative of the communities in which the schools reside.

A New Kind of District Partnership
In this era of increased accountability, some schools often need a more intensive intervention to meet AYP targets and to improve their overall performances. That is why Edison recently launched a service that brings the full complement of Edison assets to individual schools within a district. This program is dedicated to help schools turnaround, gain momentum, improve, and promote increased levels of academic achievement. The services are tailored to fit the short-term needs of individual districts or schools with a focus on building site-based capacity, knowledge transfer, and training, so that achievement and improvement will continue long past a five-year partnership.

This new program differs from Edison’s whole-school management services in that the district retains complete management and operational control of its schools.
