Every Penny Counts... Tuesday, May 25, 2004 The Student Council students at Ann T Lynch-Edison Elementary School in Las Vegas, Nevada recently sponsored a penny drive at their school to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. Each class was given a large bucket to collect as much change as possible for a great cause. But the philanthropy did not stop there! After 3 weeks 45 buckets of change were collected and the student council along with their student council coordinator, Erica Yanez, and school volunteer, Debbie Boles, walked over to the local grocery store, Food 4 Less, and used the coin machine to count the money--It took about 3 hours to count all the change and the total was amazing! The students, teachers, families, and staff at Ann T Lynch-Edison Elementary School had raised $1, 022.63 in just 3 weeks! The winning class, Ms. Scheid's AM Kindergarten class alone raised over $70.00 for this great cause! They received a pizza party from Poppa Murphy's Pizza and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Other classes that raised lots of change will receive ice cream and popcorn parties courtesy of Food 4 Less. A big thanks to all who participated and especially those hard working students in student council!c
