There's an air of hustle and bustle as buses arrive and children pour into school. Students with stomachs rumbling head for the cafeteria, where breakfast is available and served free to children who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

There are greetings and smiles as children welcome each other, their teachers, the principal, and other adults. Respect is an Edison "core value," and it's on display in both student and staff behavior. It's also literally on view through a colorful mural in the school entranceway, which depicts all eight core values: Wisdom, Justice, Courage, Compassion, Hope, Respect, Responsibility, and Integrity. These values aren't just for show. They are an integral part of the Edison experience.
