Technical Services Manager

Position Summary:
Edison Schools is looking for a qualified Technical Services Manager (TSM) to work out of one of our schools in Pittsburgh, PA. The TSM is responsible for managing the technology team that supports Edison schools, and managing, implementing and developing the school's technology culture among all participants in the school community. Additionally, the TSM is a technical expert responsible for overseeing the technology infrastructure within an Edison school. The TSM reports to the principal with a dotline report to the Regional Technology Director.

Management Responsibilities:

· Ensure the implementation of Edison technology vision within the school
· Communicate regularly with school principal to facilitate implementation of media and technology initiatives, and help determine tech team priorities
· Serve on the school leadership team
· Oversee all technology-related initiatives being implemented within the schools
· Oversee training to families during home rollout
· Provide annual evaluations to school administrators for all teaching staff members
· Manage/direct the activities of the tech team (Technology Curriculum Coordinators, User Support Technicians, Library Media Specialists); meet regularly with team members, set priorities for team, develop schedules, procedures etc.
· Develop tech team skills, guide training, evaluate staff members, make recommendations for promotions, etc.
· Work with the curriculum coordinators and leadership team to incorporate technology into on-going professional development
· Communicate with other TSMs, RTDs and HQ staff to stay on top of current information and improve the resources and systems being utilized
· Facilitate communication among LMSs and between LMSs and TCCs
· Manage capital assets
· Manage/maintain school website
· Manage the technology budget and technology planning
· Coordinate and manage technology funding and grant processes
· Manage QLC process

Technical Responsibilities:

· Provide technical support to members of the school community
· Perform maintenance functions on the local-area network including back-ups, user access, data security and data recovery
· Ensure that library management and student information systems are backed up and available to staff at all times.
· Ensure that other critical data (QLCs) are backed up daily
· Develop, manage, and evaluate maintenance and repair procedures for equipment to ensure that school computers and audio-visual equipment are available and in working order.
· Responsible for help-desk services for school and home users
· Work with the RTD to make sure that school conforms to the standards set by Technical Services



Special Skills/Experience Required:
· Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred
· Proven management skills, both people management and project management
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Experience working in a Windows 2000 environment required.
· Experience in telecommunications, network security, WAN, LAN, multimedia or help desk a plus.
· Competence in all aspects of coordinating/providing technology services to faculty, staff, students and families
· Ability to foster and manage change.
