Learning
Environment
The Wyatt-Edison Charter
School is committed to
creating and maintaining a positive learning environment that encourages
cooperation, fosters creativity, and nurtures students in taking the risks
involved in learning. The learning environment is developed and adjusted over
time with focus on providing all students with access to a world-class
education. Parents and community members play an important role in supporting
the learning environment by using common, respectful language that encourages
and inspires students, as well as sets limits.
Our school has three main rules: Be Safe, Be
Kind, and Be Responsible. We encourage you to discuss these with your child(ren) and model their use in
your home.
The Wyatt-Edison Learning Environment is
reflected in our school discipline policy.
Technology At Wyatt
Wyatt Edison Charter School is proud of the technology-rich learning environment
that we provide for our children. It is part of our philosophy that students
should be comfortable using computer technology as one method of communication
and research. Computers are provided in each classroom, and there are two
computer labs for classes to use on a weekly basis. We expect that students
will learn to use a variety of software and the internet appropriately.
Special Edison Support
Special education is an integral part of our
school. All teachers will be differentiating instruction for all types of
learners in partnership with the Special Edison Support (SES) teachers. This
partnership constitutes the fully inclusive design of our Edison
school. Special Edison Support is conceived with special needs students in mind
- but is not restricted to students with disabilities. High achievers can also
benefit from quality educational practices that focus on differentiation. A
wide range of educational services are available for students at our school. Erin
Mallow, the Special Education Coordinator, is available to answer any questions
at (303) 292-5515 ext. 1116.
Family and Student
Support Team (FASST)
The Family and Student Support Team is available to create solutions for children who are
struggling to keep up with the pace of their class. The team ensures all
children are given the opportunity to be successful by developing individual
plans to support each child's educational development. Classroom and student
support teachers create individual and school wide plans, and provide linkages
to a consortium of service providers. Students can be referred to the FASST
team by teachers, administrators, staff members, or parents. For more
information, please contact Ramona Steiner at 303-292-5515, ext.1273.
