School Operations Specialist.

Position Summary:
The School Operation Specialist will play a key support role within EdisonLearning's partnership school. He or she will work collaboratively with the SOM by supporting tasks in HR, payroll, food service, accounts receivables and procurement. To be effective, the School Operation Specialist must be organized, detailed, efficient, and dedicated to the overall success of the company, their team, and their career. He or she must be flexible, personable; able to communicate the school's mission, and possess the same core values that are part of the EdisonLearning's partnership school. This is a year round position.


Main Responsibilities:
  • Maintains Employee Personnel Files - primary responsibility within the organization for organization and filing of 75+ employee personnel files.
  • Administering and tracking pre-employment
  • Process employment verifications

  • Process New Hires and back ground check
  • Process Child Support, Disability Claims, Unemployment Claims
  • Assist with recruiting/interviewing
  • Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering time sheet data

  • Provide payroll customer service information by answering employee questions and requests
  • Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
  • Maintains employee confidence and protect payroll and HR operations by keeping information confidential.

  • Oversees the process of the Free and Reduced Lunch program/process, including the application and claims processing

  • Performs bank reconciliations of Food Service Accounts

  • Receives shipments and reconciles packing slips to purchase orders

  • Maintains and inputs vendor orders and special orders in the RSS system

  • Resolves any discrepancies or issues relating to receiving

  • Responsible for daily substitute teacher assignment.

  • Supports the School Operations Manager by assisting with other assigned duties

  • Be knowledgeable about EdisonLearning as well as the school community; be familiar with key EdisonLearning personnel, school board members and/or district personnel

  • Internal: Works with all staff at Derrick Thomas Academy

  • External: Extensive communication with all the stakeholders of Derrick Thomas Academy

  • Demonstrates awareness of other teams and the role they play at EdisonLearning



Special Skills/Experience Required:

  • Bachelors Degree (preferred)

  • Four years of payroll processing experience
  • Previous experience with processing payroll for 75+ employees (desired)

  • Four years of general HR experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in the education field

  • Strong PC productivity tools: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook)

  • Knowledge of PC application such as Lawson, ADP, POS and RSS

  • Knowledge of general office procedures

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to travel for training
