Like technology, character and ethics doesn't get an isolated 30 minutes a day. Character education is the glue that holds the Edison model together.

It doesn't take long to identify those students in a class who have been in an Edison school for a few years compared with those who are new to the environment. Edison students really do internalize the core values that are at the heart of the curriculum-and not only the literature-based character education curriculum but every subject in the Edison school day. From the countless examples of heroes in history who have demonstrated wisdom, justice, courage, compassion, hope, respect, responsibility, and integrity, to individuals and issues in science and the arts, students puzzle questions related to character and ethics in every logical place in the curriculum.
