OS Manager

Position Summary:
Edison is seeking a OS Manager to lead a team of 5 people in supporting our enterprise systems. The environment consists of over 450 Linux and 30+ Sun Solaris machines. Responsibilities include providing onsite and remote support and managing in a 24 x 7 environment. This person will take part in making strategic decisions on hardware and software standards, a directory services standard, an enterprise monitoring platform, e-mail platform, backup and disaster recovery. Candidate will then lead team in implementing these strategies.

Candidate should have a minimum of 7+ years experience working in a technical support role and 3+ years as a manager. Must be a team player and be able to handle multiple responsibilities with a commitment to excellent customer service.

This position is in Skokie, IL. Travel to NY is required. Travel should be no more than once a month.

Responsibilities:
· Oversee management of all Linux/Sun machines, Checkpoint firewalls and management console
· Set hardware and software standards
· Assist in the selection of a new e-mail system
· Architecting of new business application hardware and software
· Backups of all Unix platforms and testing to assure recoverability



Special Skills/Experience Required:
Qualifications / Required Skills:
· Minimum of 7+ years experience in providing technical support
· Minimum of 3+ years experience in managing a technical team
· Experience in managing technical projects of various size and scope
· Strong detail orientation to procedures and documentation; able to document procedures
· Strong team building skills
· Excellent trouble-shooting, communication and customer service skills

Education:
BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred
