Position Summary:
Edison Schools, founded in 1992, is the nation's leading partner with public schools and school districts focused on raising student achievement, is currently looking for a Senior Unix administrator to provide support and direction for a growing Sun Solaris environment working from our NY Headquarters. Candidate must have experience installing and configuring Checkpoint firewalls
Candidate must have a minimum of 7 years experience working in a technical support role. Must be a team player and be able to handle multiple responsibilities with a commitment to excellent customer service.
Special Skills/Experience Required:
Responsibilities:
·Management of Checkpoint firewalls and management console
·Setting hardware and software standards
·Assisting in the selection of a new e-mail system
·Architecting of new business application hardware and software
·Administration and support of Sun Solaris 2.x platforms
·Provide trouble-shooting hardware, software and network problems
Qualifications / Required Skills:
·Minimum of 7 years experience in providing Sun Solaris support
·Experience in Solaris versions 2.5, 2.6 and 2.7 on Sun E450, E5xxx platforms
·Experience with Netscape/iPlanet Messenger, Enterprise and Collabra products
·Working experience with Veritas Volume Manager and NetBackup
·Strong detail orientation to procedures and documentation; able to document procedures
·Self-motivated, ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
·Excellent trouble-shooting, communication and customer service skills
Education:
BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred
